Chiso, a 465 years old Kimono house  established in Kyoto since 1555. Chiso designs and produces luxurious and beautiful kimonos using the kyo-yuzen dyeing technique and other specific techniques used in the kimono industry like embroidery, shibori, marbling, silver leaf printing, etc...

One of these ancestral techniques is called «Okedashi shibori» which is a tie-dyeing technique using a wood bucket. Chiso asked me to create a new design using this technique and an exhibition was organized in Paris to present this technique to the public, to promote, to inspire other designers and hopefully keep this tradition alive.

千總は1555年に京都で創業し、465年の歴史ある着物の老舗です。千總は京友禅や、刺 繍、絞り、蝋染め、金彩など着物特有の技法を使用して、豪華で美しい着物をデザイン、 製造しています。
先祖代々の技法のひとつである«桶絞り» は、木桶を使った絞り染めの技法です。千總か らは、この技法を使って新しく現代的なデザインを依頼されました。パリではこの特別な 技法を一般に紹介しプロモーションするための展示会が企画され、現地のデザイナーにイ ンスピレーションを与え、この伝統が途絶えることなく受け継がれることを望んでいま す。
