This is a collection of 7 fabrics, using 5 colors of silk dyed before weaving : beniiro (red) , indigo blue, moriiro (forest green), black and white. These fabrics were woven by hand on traditional looms of 40 cm width.
Nishiyama has been weaving silk for 800 years in the remote village of Ushikubi
at the foot of the Japanese Alps. Nishiyama’s expertise covers all processes from spinning silk threads by hand to dyeing and weaving the fabric. Nishiyama is specialized in weaving a wild silk called Tsumugi using “double cocoons” (two silkworms). The thread has many features: elasticity, lightness, warmth-retention, moist absorption. Nishiyama’s trademark patterns is the stripe since the company started making textiles.
≪紬≫は、赤・青・緑・黒・白の5色を使った、先染めの7つの織物からなるコレクション です。この生地は40cm幅の伝統的な織機を使って手作業で織られています。
西山は800年もの間、日本アルプスのふもとにある牛首の村で絹織物を生産しています。 西山の特徴は手で絹糸を紡ぐことから、生地を染色して織るまでのすべてのプロセスを一 貫して行なっていることです。西山は、2頭の蚕が共同で作り出した「玉繭」を使った牛 首紬にに特化しています。この絹糸には、弾力性、軽さ、保温性、湿気の吸収などの多く の特徴があります。縞模様は、会社が始まって以来の西山のトレー ドマークです。
